About Sandra Byland

Sandra Byland Welcome! My name is Dr. Sandra Byland, and I have been a professional award-winning artist for over 40 years. My primary medium is Colored Pencil, but I also enjoy graphite pencil, pastel and acrylic painting on occasion. Most of my work is highly detailed and my subjects tend to be from the natural world.

For over 25 years, I worked as an Art Director, Graphic Designer and Natural Science Illustrator for natural history museums, natural history associations and humanitarian work, where I put my artistic skills and talents to work to help make the world a better place for all.

I have won numerous awards and national recognition for my fine art pencil and pastel paintings, as well as for my fine art photography. I am including some of my fine art photography here in my gallery listings.

My drawings, paintings and photographs hang in collections all over the world, and have been featured in Horses In Art Magazine, Parelli Savvy Times, Cowboys and Indians magazine to name a few.

I am an avid horsewoman and much of my work revolves around horses. Besides riding and being with my horses, I find that they also help to keep me connected to that greater spirit of all living things. This is constantly inspiring to me and reflects in my art.

I live in Sedona, Arizona with my husband and our two kitties. Sedona is one of the most inspiring places on the planet for an artist, with nature's beauty all around us. I have a Doctorate in Humane Religious Studies, am an Animal Chaplain and reach to share a deeper level of spirituality through my pieces and the eyes of animals. So I blend my love of animals, and the spiritual connection we have with all creatures and living things into my fine art. I reach to represent that living spirit, our spiritual inner connectedness with the natural world and a reverence for all life.

I hope you will enjoy and be uplifted by my work. Thank you for visiting my gallery and hope you find something that speaks to your heart.
